Quick Start Guide
Ok, you’ve just received your Island Hosting Welcome Email and you’re all set to begin the process of setting up and using your account. This page is a Quick Start Guide and will get your site up and running asap!!
Don’t forget, you can also check out our FAQs.
Upload Your Files
The first thing you’ll need to do is upload your files to the server. Information on the IP address / Server Name to upload to are contained within your Welcome Email, if you’re going to use an FTP program. Alternatively, you can do it via File Manager in cPanel. Follow the directions in the File Upload guide.
Update the DNS
Now that you’ve uploaded your files, you’ll need to change the DNS info at your domain register. This tells the world that your website now “lives” on our servers. Follow the directions in the Domains and DNS guide. Please remember that the process of domain propagation can take up to 72 hours (although it’s usually a lot quicker), before requests for your domain will resolve to our account here with us.
Set up your Email
Now that your files are uploaded and that you’ve changed the DNS info to point to our servers, it’s now time to set up your email accounts. Your domain must be fully propagated over, for email to be functional. Follow the instructions in the Email guide.
Exploring cPanel
Now that you’ve got your email set up and configured in your Email Program, you can explore other options in your cPanel, such as setting up subdomains etc. Follow the directions in the cPanel guide.
Accounts & Billing
Last but not least, if you have any billing inquiries, be sure to read through the Accounts & Billing guide. Your questions about billing and how we handle such matters, should already be answered there.
